The Poags Hole Hill Climb event [just outside of Dansville, NY] was held on Sunday August 20, 2017. This was the 20th anniversary of this event. This is the premier event on the hill climbing circuit in the world, and was also covered by ESPN.
Picture motorcycles trying to climb a 700 foot hill with an up to 80 degree slope. That is almost straight up. These motorcycles are highly customized and run on nitro-methane fuel. The riders were in full protective gear, ambulances and even a helicopter were standing by to manage injuries.
From their website: “Motorcycle hill climbing is a motorsport stripped to its essence. It's one rider, one machine, one hill. Fastest to the top wins.” This was exciting and terrifying to watch.
This is an event worth experiencing.
